About the EUR/PLN exchange rate
EUR/PLN is the key exchange rate for Poland's economy, since the eurozone is by far its largest trading partner. The zloty floats freely, and since the 2008 financial crisis this pair has mostly stayed between about 4 and 5 zloty per euro, a relatively narrow range for an emerging-market currency.
Many Poles work in eurozone countries and send money home, and many Poland-based businesses invoice in euros, so this rate affects everything from salaries to mortgages. Poland is committed to eventually adopting the euro, but there's no target date, so the zloty is here for the foreseeable future.
