About the GBP/INR exchange rate
GBP/INR is followed closely by the large British Indian community and by students and families moving money between the UK and India. The UK is one of the major sources of remittances to India, and pound-to-rupee rates often feature prominently in money transfer comparisons.
This rate combines the moves of two separate pairs: the pound against the dollar and the rupee against the dollar. So a strong day for the pound or a weak day for the rupee both push it higher. Checking the rate close to the transfer date, and comparing the rate a provider actually applies, is the most practical way to avoid overpaying.
