The Chilean peso is quoted without decimals, and is typically several hundred pesos to one US dollar. Chile is the world's largest copper producer, so the peso often tracks copper prices closely. When copper rallies, the peso tends to strengthen, and vice versa.
Chile also uses an inflation-indexed accounting unit called the Unidad de Fomento (UF), whose value in pesos is adjusted daily. Rents, mortgages, and some contracts are written in UF rather than pesos, so if you see a price in UF, it must first be converted to pesos at that day's UF value before converting to another currency.
